SCPD on Pace to Break Calls Record

The Santa Cruz Police Department is on pace to set a record in the number of calls-for-service our officers run. In the first five months of 2012 (January-May), the department ran 42,024 calls-for-service. In 2011, SCPD ran 90,484 calls - the most in our nearly150 year history. The department attributes the increase to a number of factors including improved community outreach - where residents feel more comfortable calling for police services or calling to document criminal behavior. These calls help us better allocate our resources.
