SCPD Welcomes New Officer

The Santa Cruz Police Department welcomes our newest officer, Esmeralda Sanchez.

Chief Vogel presided over a ceremony to administer the oath of office and officially “swear in” Officer Sanchez.

Officer Sanchez comes to us from the San Diego Police Department where she worked for the past 3 years. During her time at San Diego PD, Officer Sanchez was assigned to a Border Crimes Unit and earned a number of commendations for her work, including an “Officer of the Shift” award. She was also devoted to her community where she volunteered as a youth mentor in the Mana De San Diego program.

Officer Sanchez was joined by her family with her mother taking part in the official badge pinning.

Chief Vogel commented, “We are proud to bring Officer Sanchez into the SCPD family. She has a solid reputation for hard work, integrity and service to her community. Officer Sanchez is a great fit for our department and community”.

After completing our in-house orientation, and Field Training Program, Officer Sanchez will be assigned to a patrol team.
