Vigilant Citizen's Call Results In Drug Arrest

Thank you to the alert citizen for watching out for their neighborhood & calling 911.
Around 1:00 pm on 4/14/17, a concerned citizen reported two people who appeared to be passed out in a car parked in the 100 block of Blaine Street. SCPD Officers contacted two individuals slumped over inside a silver BMW. After knocking on the windows, Officers were eventually able to wake up the occupants. Drug paraphernalia was visible on the center console.
A search of the car led to an arrest. Officers found heroin, methamphetamine, cash, and additional drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.



 

Officers also discovered a realistic looking BB handgun and a metal "slim jim" in the back of the car.
A "slim jim" is a thin metal tool used to unlock car doors without a key.
Officers arrested Paul Otey, 37 years old, from Santa Cruz for possession of heroin, methamphetamine, drug sales, and paraphernalia.
