Update Missing Child & Mother LOCATED -- SCPD Needs Community's Help to Locate a Missing 2 year old Child

SCPD received confirmation that Heather Lara and two year old daughter Ember Perryman have been located in Southern California. A welfare check was conducted by law enforcement in the area. It was determined that the pair is safe.
After further investigation, it was determined that the custody arrangement of the child is in process with family court.
SCPD would like to thank the public for their help sharing the missing person information and helping to locate these individuals.

SCPD is investigating a missing 2-year old child at risk and the girl's mother. The child pictured here is Ember Perryman. She has sandy brown curly hair and brown eyes. 

On Friday, 11/4/2016, Heather Lara and her two year old daughter Ember Perryman walked away from Friendship Garden in Harvey West Park. Neither have been heard from or seen since Friday morning. Heather Lara, the child’s mother, is not the custodial parent. Ember Perryman is 2 years old and is considered a Missing Person at Risk due to her age. She was last seen wearing light-colored pajama top and bottoms with hearts.

The father of two year girl has been granted full and sole custody of child.

Numerous Santa Cruz Police Officers and City Rangers are searching for the pair throughout Harvey West Park and Pogonip. The mother is familiar with camping in the area. She also mentioned to acquaintances that she wanted to move to Mexico.

Ember Perryman is 2’5" tall, 30 pounds with light brown curly hair and brown eyes. Ember was last seen wearing a light- colored pajama top and white pajama bottoms with hearts on legs.

Description: White female, born 06-10-79. She is 5’5" tall,160 lbs. with blond hair and blue eyes. Heather Lara was last seen wearing long green flowered dress and flip flops. She was on foot and pushing the child in a stroller. The mother has does not have a car or a cell phone. Possible Destination: Los Angeles, Mexico or Idaho.

SCPD asking the public’s help in locating a missing child named Madyson Middleton

The Santa Cruz Police Department is continuing our search and investigation into the disappearance of 8 year old Madyson “Maddy” Middleton. 

The police department was called to the Tannery Arts Center, 1030 River Street at 6:08 PM on Sunday 7/26, reporting that Madyson was missing. It was reported that Madyson had been at her apartment complex riding her white razor scooter, wearing a purple knee high dress with black leggings, black baseball style helmet, with long dark hair pulled to the side in a braid.
Madyson Middleton is 8 years old, Female, White, 4'-0'' tall and 48 lbs.
The following developments occurred overnight.
The Santa Cruz Police Department has been in contact with the FBI and they are providing assistance with our investigation. The police department continued to coordinate search efforts with the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team. We utilized specially trained K-9’s from the State Office of Emergency Services. These dogs are scent-specific. The dogs searched the San Lorenzo River levee and main beach areas.

Searchers scoured over all possible areas in the vicinity of where Madyson went missing, as well as the main beach area. We will search these areas again during daylight hours. Today’s search included another full search of the San Lorenzo River waterway and levees, as well as the use of watercraft, aircraft and foot teams.

We are still asking for the public’s help by reporting suspicious activity, calling in possible leads, and keeping alert for sightings of Madyson. We will continue to update as new information comes available.
