Wanted Outstanding Suspects for Tyler Tenorio Murder In 2009


This week marks the 8th anniversary of the Tyler Tenorio homicide. There are two outstanding fugitives with active warrants for their arrest in this case.

On October 16, 2009, at approximately 10:00 PM the Santa Cruz Police Department was dispatched to the corner of Laurel St. and Chestnut St. for a reported stabbing. Arriving Officers located the victim who had multiple stab wounds. Once emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene, and after attempting to render aid to the victim, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim, Tyler Tenorio, was 17 years old.

Subsequent investigation revealed that a brief fight had occurred between two groups of male subjects. Once the fight ended, and the crowd dispersed, the victim remained on the ground with multiple stab wounds. SCPD Investigators also determined through witness statements that five subjects were seen kicking and stabbing the victim as he lay on the ground.

Of the five suspects, three have been arrested. The two outstanding suspects for murder are Ivan Ramirez Tapia and Paulo Luna. Both are now 31 years of age.

$250,000 Warrant for Home Invasion Robbery Suspect



The Santa Cruz Police Department has obtained an arrest warrant for the second suspect in a home invasion robbery that occurred on February 20, 2013 in the 500 block of Poplar Ave.  The suspect has been identified as:

Esteban Lopez – 22 Years Old
Hispanic Male Adult
5 feet 7 inches - 130 lbs
Santa Cruz Resident

Mr. Lopez fled the scene of the crime and was not located on the night of this incident.  In addition to other follow up work on this case, detectives have been attempting to track down Mr. Lopez over the past 2 days.  His whereabouts are currently not known.  He has not been seen at his home, work, or frequented locations. 

The bail amount on the warrant is $250,000, with charges including (1) Robbery, (2) False Imprisonment, (3) Burglary, and (4) Assault with a Deadly Weapon.  Mr. Lopez is a confirmed “Beach Flats Sureno” gang member with an extensive history of law enforcement contact, including weapons and narcotics violations.

Help Us Catch This Predator

The suspect depicted below approached a 12 year old female as she was walking home from school along the 500 block of Walnut Avenue.  The incident occurred January 11th at approximately 2:30 PM.  He grabbed her buttocks as he passed her on the sidewalk.  The brave 12 year old confronted the suspect and he fled.  He was seen again in the area and confronted a second time.  He fled again, but a witness got a cell phone photo of his backside as he fled up a staircase. 

The suspect is described as a Hispanic Male Adult 21-28 years, 5'10" - 6'0" 250 - 280 lbs
He was last seen wearing a brown T-shirt, Dickie Style Pants,  and wire-rimmed glasses.  His sketch and the cell phone photo are below.  

Officers will be posting flyers in the area today.  We are hopeful someone will recognize him and report him to us.
