Announcing New Upgrades to Our Smartphone App, Crime Maps and Text-A-Tip

The Santa Cruz Police Department announces exciting changes to our Community Information Technology.

Upgraded Smartphone App

Our smartphone app was actually the first in the country for police departments.  In 2012, we won the Helen Putnam Award for innovation from the California League of Cities for our app.

Our smartphone app has been updated for iOS and Droid.  New features include:
  1. New and improved crime maps
  2. New and improved tip submit
  3. File a report through your smartphone
  4. Facebook and Twitter feeds
  5. Community Alerts
  6. Upgraded Scanner Feature
The smartphone app is available for FREE at the Apple iTunes Store and Google Play.  Thanks to the team at MobilePD for their work on improving our App.  Droid users will have to delete the old app and download the new version here:

Our Old CrimeMappping Website will stop working in the near future.  Be sure to update to this new site!!!

New Tip Texting and Webtips

Community members can now submit anonymous tips through our crime map Website, smartphone app, or a regular sms text.  This new tool allows for two-way texting in the event we have follow up questions, etc.

For smartphone, simply download the “TipSubmit” app from Public Engines at the Apple iTunes Store.  The Droid version is coming soon.  Anonymous tips can also be submitted by downloading our Santa Cruz Police App above.

For regular texting – Simply text “TIPSCPD” and your message to “274637” (CRIMES).

Instructions are available at our front desk or Website.
