Alert Citizen Recognized Stolen Truck - Calls 911

On Tuesday December 8, 2015 at about 11: 00 a.m., an alert citizen called 911 when he recognized his stolen blue 1988 Ford F150 pickup truck parked at a local restaurant. As Santa Cruz Police Officers were in route, the stolen truck drove away traveling northbound on Morrissey Blvd. The victim followed and relayed the information to SCPD Dispatchers.

Santa Cruz Police officers caught up with the stolen truck and followed it to Branciforte Ave at Hwy 1 overpass. The truck eventually stopped and the suspects were ordered to get out of the truck at gunpoint in a high-risk style car stop. The driver and passenger were taken into custody.

The driver was identified as Jennifer Howard and the passenger in the back of the camper shell truck bed was identified as Perry Greer.
Jennifer Howard, 40 years old, transient Santa Cruz
Jennifer Howard was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, driving with a suspended license, possession of a stolen bicycle and possession of narcotic paraphernalia. 
Perry Greer, 40 years old, transient Santa Cruz
Perry Greer was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of drugs and narcotic paraphernalia, possession of a stolen bicycle and violation of probation.

A large Pitbull was in their company. Animal Services came to take care and possession of the dog.
 
Both Howard and Greer were found in possession of methamphetamine and narcotic materials. There was also a large quantity of property in the back of the truck including a black Specialized mountain bike, which was also confirmed as stolen. The bike was reported stolen from a separate home burglary case reported in November.

Jennifer Howard and Perry Greer were booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail.
