The Santa
Cruz Police Department lost another of our retired ranks with the passing of
retired Sergeant Jim Skinner. Jim passed
away Saturday August 31, 2013, in Las Vegas, Nevada after a long and courageous
battle with cancer.
Jim was remembered
by those he worked with as a good man and a good Sergeant. He was the kind of Sergeant that knew how to
handle any kind of situation and how to motivate his teams.
Graveyard Team circa 1993-ish??? |
Just like the late Sergeant Andy Crain, Jim
was a stickler for professional radio traffic and always demanded the best from
his teams. Not many of us working in
that day escaped without a friendly request to return to the office to have a
chat about our radio demeanor :-) In spite of that, Jim was always more
than happy to offer his talents toward a practical joke.
Jim Sporting the old "Light Blues" |
Jim started
his nearly 25 year career with the Santa Cruz Police Department on August 4,
1971. He retired on April 19, 1996.
From the many officers you helped influence
and guide throughout your time here...We Thank You! You will be missed.
Services for Jim are still pending.
