The Story of the Morning Bun

During the memorial ceremony honoring Detective Elizabeth Butler, and Sergeant Butch Baker, Elizabeth’s sister, Alexis, highlighted how much Elizabeth loved good food and treats.  Elizabeth’s especially strong attraction to morning buns from Kelly’s French Bakery has been well chronicled through the halls of the Santa Cruz Police Department.  Chief Vogel even alluded to the legend of the morning bun as he spoke at the memorial service.

Owners Kelly and Mark Sanchez, of Kelly’s French Bakery wasted no time and swung into action.  Since learning of Elizabeth’s love of their morning buns, Kelly’s French Bakery has been delivering 100 of their delicious morning buns to the police department every Wednesday morning without fail.

The thoughtfulness of Kelly and Mark is both extremely generous and meaningful to the men and women here at the police department.  Not to mention…..their food is delicious.  Another year of this and we may need a new treadmill :-)
This is what it looks like when a community comes together to support and sustain each other.  We are incredibly grateful for all the love and support over the past year.  If you get the chance, stop by and thank the fine folks at Kelly’s French Bakery.  They represent the very best of the Santa Cruz community.
